The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Program Curriculum complies with the California Code of Regulations Title 8 Chapter 4 Section 5192 (q). Hazardous material technicians are those persons who respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials for the purpose of controlling the release.
The course includes 40-hour training with demonstrations and hands-on experience. Instructional activities incorporate implementation of emergency response plans, performing the duties of an assigned hazardous materials position within the local incident command system; instrument use exercises; barrel overpacking/leaking drums demonstration, simulated field and decontamination exercises, and donning chemical protective clothing.
