Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)

The HAZWOPER program offers hazardous waste and hazmat training for day laborers and hazardous site workers in the public and private sector. Instruction and materials are provided in both English and Spanish. Courses include training and certification for hazardous waste site workers in the private and public sector; Emergency response training for hazardous materials first response personnel and industry response teams; an Annual 8-hour refresher training for all previously enrolled students and trainers; health and safety training related to chemical hazards, bloodborne pathogens, and heat illness; fact sheets illustrating injury and illness prevention; and summaries of state and federal worker rights and protections.

School Action for Safety and Health (SASH) Program

The free one day course, presented by the California Commission on Health and Safety, Worker’s Compensation, and UCLA LOSH, trains key school employees to become health and leaders for their district. Participants will learn health and safety concepts, how to develop an effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program, and how to take a leadership role in promoting health and safety for school employees.

Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) Training

This free half-day course will train you to develop and implement an effective health and safety program at your workplace that meets the requirements of Cal/OSHA’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) standard. The course is presented by trainers from the UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health Compensation Insurance Fund.

You will learn how to meet Cal/OSHA requirements and expectations for an effective IIPP; how to identify and solve common health and safety problems at your workplace;  steps for investigating work-related accidents, injuries, and illnesses when the occur; and ways to involve your employees in your safety program.


Worker Occupational Safety and Health (WOSH) Specialist Program

The 24-hour course is an interactive educational leadership program which prepares front-line workers to take an active role in improving health and safety conditions in their workplaces. The training program covers the basics of workplace health and safety through a participatory curriculum which aims at reducing job related injuries and illnesses among California workers.


Worker Occupational Safety and Health Training and Education Program (WOSHTEP)

The WOSHTEP curriculum enhances leadership skills and promotes active participation in injury and illness prevention activities in the workplace. Our training courses are especially appropriate for workers with significant health and safety responsibilities, such as those serving on a health and safety committee; those designated by employers or unions as safety representatives; and those who will later train their co-workers about health and safety issues.
