Mayra Zamora
Mayra Zamora is a Research Associate at LOSH. She supports research initiatives and community partnerships aimed at addressing worker safety and health. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from UCLA and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from California State University, Los Angeles.
Prior to joining LOSH, Mayra worked as a research assistant at California State University, Los Angeles, and California State University, Northridge, examining COVID-19–related health disparities among Asian American and Pacific Islander communities across the Greater Los Angeles region. She also served as a California Epidemiologic Investigation Service (Cal-EIS) Fellow at the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, where she conducted communicable disease surveillance and outbreak investigations for the City of Long Beach.
Mayra’s interests are centered on applying epidemiologic methods to understand social determinants of health and improve the systems that shape them. She believes community-driven data and research are powerful tools for improving the health and safety of workers in underserved and underrepresented communities.
Outside of work, Mayra enjoys concerts, nature walks, and rock ‘n’ roll documentaries.
