Jonathan Penate Salazar

Jonathan Penate Salazar is a LOSH Project Coordinator specializing in areas of labor and employment law, immigrant worker rights, and workplace violence prevention. He is currently leading LOSH’s efforts under the statewide COVID-19 Worker Outreach Project funded through the California Department of Industrial Relations.

In law school, Jonathan worked on asylum applications and removal defense at the UCLA Immigrant Family Legal Clinic. Before coming to LOSH, Jonathan worked on wage claims for low-wage immigrant workers at Bet Tzedek Legal Services. He is particularly interested in addressing disparities in working conditions and access to entrepreneurial opportunities among immigrant worker communities.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys playing Sunday league soccer.

Jonathan obtained his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he specialized in Critical Race Studies. He also has B.A. degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from UCLA.
